SUU Student Food Resources

  • The campus HOPE (Helping Our People Eat) Pantry: Located inside the SUU Community Engagement Center (across the street from the Science and Music Bldgs, same street as campus housing). Open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Easy to use! Enter your t-number, select the food, and try items you need.

  • Iron County Care and Share: Monthly food boxes, weekly pantry pick-ups. Appointment needed, make one online, https://www.careandshare-ut.org/food-pantry or by calling 435-586-4962.

  • SNAP Benefits: SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) provides qualifying students food spending money loaded onto a debit-type card that you can use to purchase grocery items at stores. Due to temporary program adjustments, you qualify for SNAP benefits if:

    You have an SUU work study job

    OR

    The expected family contribution (EFC) based on your FAFSA application is 0

Food Insecurity:

Being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.

49% of students are food insecure AND Only 50% of SUU students know about the

HOPE Pantry.

Get food and non-food items you need at the HOPE Pantry FREE! The Pantry is located in the Community Enagement Center across the street from the Science Building.

Available to all SUU students in a friendly, no questions asked environment.

Donations. Make donations to the HOPE Pantry. Any unopened, shelf stable food or toiletry items are accepted. Volunteers are also needed, email hopepantry@suu.edu.

  • Many college parents struggle to provide sufficient nutrition for their families.

  • Food insecurity can impact both mental and physical health of parents and their children.

  • Recognizing the prevalence of food shortages among college students with children.
