COMMUNITY ACTION
SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
We are excited to share our knowledge and experience with the community. We are able to provide workshops on child and family related topics such as parenting, adoption, stress manage-ment, trauma, etc. We are also trained to teach safety and prevention information in school settings.
COMMUNITY COLLABORATION
Through our collaboration with other community agencies, we strive to connect people with additional services and family resources.
Being a parent is a hard job, with enormous responsibility. Our goal is to support parents, foster parents and guardians as they strive to provide a healthy, happy and safe environment for their children. We do this by providing multiple free services including care in our licensed nurseries for children ages birth-11 years.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
RESPITE CARE
Respite Care is a planned break for caregivers of children. It may be scheduled in advance for up to three hours per week and is provided in our nurseries during regular business hours 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Saturday.
Respite care may include but is not limited to:
Attending support or recovery groups, doctor visits, counseling sessions, parenting or self-improvement classes, job searches, self-care activities, stress breaks, marriage building activities, etc.
CRISIS CARE
Crisis Care refers to extended nursery stays up to 72 hours per visit. This service is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Our nurseries have multiple bedrooms and sleeping arrangements for children.
Crisis Care may include but is not limited to:
Emergency medical situations or planned procedures, childbirth, incarceration, death in the family, etc. It may also be requested any time the child may be at imminent risk of physical or emotional harm.
HOME VISITATION SERVICES
Our Home Visitation Program can provide a variety of assistance in your home environment.
Our Family Advocates follow a 12-month parenting curriculum based on the family's needs, and help clients achieve personal and individualized goals. Parents receive in-home instruction once a month and additional in-home respite care for children.
VISITATION EXCHANGES
In order to provide a safe, controlled environment where peaceful transition between parents or caregivers can occur, we offer Visitation Exchanges for children of all ages.
Visitation Exchanges must be scheduled in advance during regular business hours (9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Saturday) and limited times on Sundays.
POST ADOPTIVE SERVICES
We provide both in-home and on-site child respite services for families who have adopted children from the state.
PARENTING CLASSES
We offer regular parenting classes that are free and open to the community based on different evidence based methods. We offer dinner and childcare with each parenting class.
FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENTS
The Family Support Center hosts many free community events for families. These events provide healthy, fun and relationship building opportunities for families.
Follow us on Facebook or check our website (www.familysupportutah.org) for upcoming events in your community!
WE WANT TO SUPPORT YOU IN YOUR ROLE AS A PARENT, FOSTER PARENT OR GUARDIAN
GIVING
There are many ways to support The Family Support Center, all of which are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your continued support.
FINANCIAL GIFTS
The Family Support Center is a nonprofit organization that is funded primarily through state contracts, foundation grants, and private donations. Monetary donations help support our programs in many ways: sponsoring family activities, parenting classes, purchasing food and nursery supplies, or helping us expand our services into rural areas.
Donations can be made through our website (www.familysupportutah.com) or mailed directly.
VOLUNTEER HOURS
Volunteers are always welcome at the Family Support Center but volunteers must be over 18 years old and must pass a background check before working directly with children. Contact us directly for project ideas for service groups.
ITEMS NEEDED
Household items (bathroom supplies, cleaning supplies, diapers, art and craft supplies, etc) are always appreciated. We accept donations of gently used children's shoes and clothing to redistribute to children in need.
OUR MISSION
Strengthening families, protecting children, and promoting healthy relationships.
